Title MSc NRM organized the sixth webinar on “Bush to Bench to Bed: The Critical Role of Field Research in Biodiversity Conservation and Translational Science”

A webinar on “Bush to Bench to Bed: The Critical Role of Field Research in Biodiversity Conservation and Translational Science” was conducted by the MSc Natural Resources Management Program in collaboration with the University of Washington. The chief presenter of the webinar Professor Dr. Randall C. Kyes focused on the importance of field-based research for biodiversity conservation. He also focused that long-term monitoring is very important to explore the status of biodiversity. He presented his research experiences in different countries and also emphasized potential zoonotic diseases from Human to non-human primates and vice versa. Regarding his recent research on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection in Rhesus monkeys in Kathmandu Valley (the research where MSc NRM nec CPS is a collaborative partner) he alerts the possible threat to wildlife from human and wildlife interaction. In the webinar, Dr. Laxman Khanal, Assistant Professor, Central Department of Zoology, and Dr. Achut Tiwari, Assistant Professor, Central Department of Botany also shared their idea and focused on the importance of field research in Nepal. The webinar was coordinated by Dr. Narayan Prasad Koju, Program Coordinator MSc NRM. Graduate students from different colleges participated in the webinar. nec CPS is organizing webinar series regularly on different topics of Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resources Management.
