Research Project on “Water Security in Peri- Urban South Asia: Adapting to Climate Change and Urbanization” launched at Nepal Engineering College.
Urbanization, Climate change and Water Access in Peri Urban South Asia, a Collaborative Action Research Project in four institutions of the South Asian Countries proposed by namely South Asia Consortium for Interdisciplinary Water Resources Studies (SaciWATERS), Hyderabad, India, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, India, Nepal Engineering College (nec), Kathmandu, Nepal and Institute of Water and Flood Management (IWFM), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh, formally commenced on 12th July, 2010. This three year project is funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada.
nec research team includes the Project Leader Prof. Dr. Hari Krishna Shrestha, Principal, Nepal Engineering College, Mr. Mohan Bikram Prajapati and Mr. Sarbin Sayami. Mr. Rajesh Sada and Ms. Anushiya Shrestha are the designated full time researcher and research assistant in the team. While this is the core team of researchers, other faculty members and graduate students from nec will also contribute in the research issues. An office for the project management has been established at the Center for Postgraduate Studies (nec-CPS), at Pulchowk in Lalitpur.
