Web Lecture on

Remote Sensing and GIS applications in Civil Work: A Basic and Practitioners Approach

Nepal Engineering College (nec), the Department of Civil Engineering, Department of nec-BDH Program and Department of Civil & Rural Engineering with collective effort from all the faculties instigated Web Lecture Series during the pandemic COVID-19. The main aim of the series was to coin the pandemic time by enhancing the horizon of knowledge in students with the help of experts from the education and the pragmatic field.

The Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of nec- BDH Program is initiating a Web Lecture scheduled on 1st September 2020, Tuesday, by Dr. Biswajeet Thakur, Scientist ‘D’, Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow.

This is to inform all the students of Civil (5th and 7th semester), nec-BDH (5th, 7th and 9th Semester) and Civil & Rural (7th and 9th Semester) that Department of Civil Engineering and Department of nec-BDH Program association with Department of Civil & Rural Engineering is conducting a “Web lecture” on 1st September 2020, Tuesday through zoom.

About the Presenter:

Scientist ‘D’ Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow

Post-graduation (Geology) in the year 2001

Ph.D. (2011) in Geology from University of Lucknow, Lucknow, India

After his post-graduation he joined the institute of Remote Sensing Applications Centre-Uttar Pradesh (RSAC-UP), Lucknow as Project Scientist.

In the year 2006 he joined Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), Lucknow as Scientist ‘B’ and from here he completed his Ph.D. on the topic “Surface and Shallow sub-surface study of Rapti-Gandak Interfluves” using remote sensing and GIS techniques

Presently, he is working as Scientist ‘D’ in BSIP, Lucknow on different ecological and environmental settings of SW Indian coast using microfossils and GIS techniques.
