nec chairman

As an executive chairman of Nepal Engineering College (nec), I feel great pleasure to welcome you all at this popular institution established in 1994 as the 1st Engineering college in the private sector of Nepal. The purpose of establishing this institution was to fulfill the country’s demand to provide engineers, managers and other skilled manpower required for the development of the country. Seven distinguished academicians, managers and industrialists founded this Nepal Engineering College popularly known as nec for overall development of the society. Since last 23 years, students from almost all districts of Nepal have graduated from this college. Quality, competence and excellence is the main motto of the college. More than eight thousand students have graduated in B. Architecture, B.E. Civil, B.E. Civil and Rural, B.E. Computer Science and Engineering, B.E. Electrical and Electronics, B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering and B.E. Civil for diploma holders programs.  Also more than one thousand two hundred students have passed master degree courses in different programs namely M.Sc. Construction Management, M.Sc. Transportation Engineering and Management, M.Sc. Natural Resource Management and M.Sc. Interdisciplinary Water Resource Management. At present students graduated from this college are working in Nepal, in government/semi-government organizations and private sectors. Some of them have their own company. Several nec graduates are also working in many foreign countries. nec also provides non-credit courses (not prescribed in the syllabus) to our students to fulfill the industry demand and to enhance the professional knowledge of our students to make them more competitive in the national and international job market. Several measures have been taken to guarantee the quality education. Almost all the teachers are full time faculty members to increase the contact hours of the students. Class teacher counsellors have been appointed for each class to guide and control the presence of each student in class and also to inform the parents/guardians about the activities of their wards.

After the devastating earthquake of April 25, 2015 several class rooms and other infrastructure were damaged. At present all earthquake affected class rooms, buildings are fully repaired. New buildings were built to meet the students’ educational needs.

Finally, I would like to thank all the students and their guardians, faculty & staff members for their great support to nec. I would also like to thank all the founder members for their guidance, suggestions and cooperation in the smooth running of the college.
